Dr. Biruktawit Getachew is a medical doctor with over five years of experience spanning clinical care, health insurance systems, and digital health innovation. She began her career as a General Practitioner after graduating from St. Paul’ s Hospital Millennium Medical College, providing front-line medical care, Motivated to drive impact beyond the clinic, she joined the Ethiopian Health Insurance Services as a Claim Support and Monitoring Expert. There, she enhanced operational efficiency and standardized claims management across EHIS branches. Her transition into digital health came through her work at CheMed, where she served as Project Manager and later Operations Manager. She led the development of an insure-tech product designed to expand digital health insurance access for low-income communities and managed operations for CheMed’ s pharmaceutical delivery platform.
